Deadlines for the 2019 Tax Year
As a result of the COVID-19 emergency the April 15 federal income tax filing due date has been pushed by back 90 days to July 15. This applies to all taxpayers, including individuals, trusts/estates, corporations and other non-corporate filers.
The extension is automatic. No additional forms need to be filed to receive the 90 day extension.
February 29 – last day to submit business information (partnerships and S Corps) to file on March 15.
March 25 – last day to submit individual tax information for an April 15 filing.
Please note: if information is received after these cut-off dates, you may require an extension. If we are working on your file close to the deadline, we will file the extension automatically for you.
August 8 – last day to submit information for the September 16 Partnership/Corporation extended deadline.
September 8 – last day to submit the information for the October 15 personal extended deadline.
Be aware that there are penalties for late filing of corporate (and partnership) – at least $200 per return per shareholder.
Personal returns: there is a late filing penalty of 5% of the tax due per month late up to 25% in addition to late payment penalties and interest. There are no penalties for filing for a refund late.
